Becoming a Registered Behavior Technician is more than a checklist—it’s an investment in yourself 💪 and your future 🚀. At MBS, we guide you through every step, from your background check 📝 to your first day on the job 🌟, with training, encouragement, and hands-on support. This journey isn’t just about earning a certification 🎓; it’s about gaining the education 📚, skills 🛠️, and confidence 💛 to make a lasting impact in the lives of others while opening doors to your own growth and success.
Step 1
🌐 Create Your BACB Account
Head to bacb.com and click “Create an Account.”
🖊️ Fill in your personal details, making sure your name matches your legal ID exactly.
You’ll use this account to submit your application, upload documents, and track your progress toward becoming an RBT with MBS 🌸.
Step 2
✅Meet the Eligibility Requirements
Before you can start your RBT journey at MBS, you’ll need to:
✔️🎂 Be at least 18 years old
✔️🎓 Have a high school diploma or equivalent
✔️🔍 Pass a background check (about $40 – we’ll walk you through it!)
Once these are checked off, you’re ready to jump into training! 🌸
Step 3
📚Complete the 40-Hour RBT Course
MBS Course:
Five 8 Hour Days
Join us for our 1-week, 40-hour training where learning is hands-on, interactive, and full of real-world ABA tools.
You’ll dive into the foundations of ABA, practical teaching strategies, and ethical guidelines—all with the support of our amazing trainers 🌸.
Ask questions, practice skills, and leave feeling confident and ready for the next step in your RBT journey!
Step 4
🌸Complete the Competency Assessment & Attestation Form
If Completed By MBS: Last Day of Course
*Must pass Background Check
With MBS, one of our supportive BCBAs will guide you through your Competency Assessment—this is your chance to show the skills you’ve learned in action! 💪
Once you shine, your BCBA will complete and sign the official Attestation Form 🖊️, giving you the green light to apply for your RBT certification.
Step 5
📝 Apply for RBT Certification
MBS Assist in this Process on Last Day of Class; or Independently
Submit your application through your BACB account along with your required documents and fees.
💵 Application fee: $50 (paid to the BACB)
Once approved—usually within about 1 week—you’ll get an email from Pearson Vue to schedule your exam. 📩
Step 6
🎯 Schedule & Take Your RBT Exam
Email From BACB typically takes less than 1 Week
MBS Recommends Scheduling ASAP - While the Information Is FRESH! 🌸
After your application is approved, Pearson Vue will email you to schedule your exam.
💵 Exam fee: $45 (paid to Pearson Vue)
Take your test, celebrate your success 🎉, and officially join the MBS family of RBTs making a difference every day! 🌸
Step 7
🌟 Start Your Career as an RBT
Typically a Few Days After Passing Exam
Once you pass your exam, you’re officially certified! 🥳
